I need one for photography next year. My camera at the moment is fine.. but It doesn't have an adjustable shutter or aperture. And I'm thinking since I'm getting a new one I might as well go dslr.
So.. does anyone know of a relatively good priced one? NOT with a massive lens or agfagillion settings. I'm not a professional photographer, just a student. So It doesn't need to be amazingly flash. Just a good one with a relative price.

Not in your price range.
Massive lenses are usually the ones that are telephoto lenses. The lenses you buy for your camera is up to you
The cameras with the most bang for the buck will cost closer to $550 USD. You can figure out what that means in New Zealand. Look at the Nikon D3100 or Canon 500D

I bought a Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm Kit lens for around $400 and i love it. I am also a photography student and it is a perfect camera for my class.
